Meine Meinung:
Ich liebe Retellings und lese jedes Buch, was mir dazu in die Hände fällt.
Novik erzählt die Geschichte von Rumpelstilzchen, ändert jedoch das Setting und auch die Figuren. Man erkennt die wichtigsten Elemente des Märchens sehr gut, aber sie spinnt daraus eine ganz eigene Erzählung.
Es dauert ein wenig, bis man sich in der fremden Welt zurecht findet. Sie ähnelt zwar der unseren, dennoch gibt es Fantasyteile, die nicht von Anfang an klar sind, die aber nach und nach verständlicher werden.
Märchenhaft ist „Spinning Silver“ nicht zwingend, es gibt keine tiefgründigere Aussage und wenig Symbolik, dafür aber gut ausgestaltete Figuren und einen gelungenen Spannungsbogen.
Wer wie ich Spaß an Nacherzählungen hat, dem wird dieses Buch sicherlich gut gefallen.
