Kunterbuntes – Seite 2

Man merkt, dass wir uns dem Bücherherbst nähern. Im September erscheinen so einige Romane, die mein Interesse geweckt haben. Ich geb Euch an dieser Stelle nur den Klappentext, weil der Beitrag sonst viel zu lang wird.

Los geht es am 1. September mit zwei Büchern:

„Blood & Honey“ von Shelby Mahurin, das zweite Buch aus der Serie „Serpent & Dove“, das ich bereis bei Fairyloot in der Sonderausgabe vorbestellt habe.

„After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.“

Yaa Gyasi kennen viele von ihrer Geschichte „Homegoing“. Nun erscheint ihr Buch „Transcendent Kingdom“.

„Gifty is a fifth year candidate in neuroscience at Stanford School of Medicine studying reward seeking behavior in mice and the neural circuits of depression and addiction. Am 8. September gibt es Neuerscheinungen zweier weiterer großer Namen:

Wer kennt nicht „Fight Club“ von Chuck Palahniuk? Ich freu mich schon sehr auf „The Invention of Sound“ und bin gespannt, ob es die gleiche Wirkung auf die Leserschaft haben wird.

Ruth Ware ist immer ein Garant für Spannung und gute Unterhaltung. „One by One“ wird von ihren Fans bereits sehnsüchtig erwartet.

„Getting snowed in at a beautiful, rustic mountain chalet doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world, especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a cozy fire, and company to keep you warm. But what happens when that company is eight of your coworkers…and you can’t trust any of them?

Am 15. September erwarten uns zwei richtige „Schinken“ die viele, viele unterhaltsame Lesestunden versprechen.

Ken Follett kann es nicht lassen und hat mit „The Evening and the Morning“ einmal mehr eine Story rund um den Ort Kingsbridge geschrieben, bekannt aus seinem Roman „Säulen der Erde“. Die deutsche Übersetzung dieses Prequels erscheint ebenfalls bereits am 15. September.

„It is 997 CE, the end of the Dark Ages. England is facing attacks from the Welsh in the west and the Vikings in the east. Those in power bend justice according to their will, regardless of ordinary people and often in conflict with the king. Without a clear rule of law, chaos reigns.

Sehr gespannt bin ich auch schon auf den neuen Roman „To Sleep in a Sea of Stars“ von Christopher Paolini, bekannt für seine Jugendbuchreihe „Eragon“. Hier handelt es sich jedoch um ein SciFi-Buch für Erwachsene.

„During a routine survey mission on an uncolonized planet, Kira finds an alien relic. At first she’s delighted, but elation turns to terror when the ancient dust around her begins to move.

Weiter geht es mit tollen Büchern am 22. September.

Garth Nix hat 1995 mit „Sabriel“ einen großen Erfolg gelandet. Nun erscheint seine Erzählung „The Left-Handed Booksellers of London“, die ich unbedingt lesen möchte!

„In a slightly alternate London in 1983, Susan Arkshaw is looking for her father, a man she has never met. Crime boss Frank Thringley might be able to help her, but Susan doesn’t get time to ask Frank any questions before he is turned to dust by the prick of a silver hatpin in the hands of the outrageously attractive Merlin.
Merlin is a young left-handed bookseller (one of the fighting ones), who with the right-handed booksellers (the intellectual ones), are an extended family of magical beings who police the mythic and legendary Old World when it intrudes on the modern world, in addition to running several bookshops.
Susan’s search for her father begins with her mother’s possibly misremembered or misspelt surnames, a reading room ticket, and a silver cigarette case engraved with something that might be a coat of arms.
Merlin has a quest of his own, to find the Old World entity who used ordinary criminals to kill his mother. As he and his sister, the right-handed bookseller Vivien, tread in the path of a botched or covered-up police investigation from years past, they find this quest strangely overlaps with Susan’s. Who or what was her father? Susan, Merlin, and Vivien must find out, as the Old World erupts dangerously into the New.“

Ausgesprochen gut unterhalten hatte mich „Well Met“ von Jen DeLuca. Ich denke, dass mich auch ihre Fortsetzung „Well Played“ bestens unterhalten wird. Ich hab sie bereits als eBook vorbestellt.

„Stacey is jolted when her friends Simon and Emily get engaged. She knew she was putting her life on hold when she stayed in Willow Creek to care for her sick mother, but it’s been years now, and even though Stacey loves spending her summers pouring drinks and flirting with patrons at the local Renaissance Faire, she wants more out of life. Stacey vows to have her life figured out by the time her friends get hitched at Faire next summer. Maybe she’ll even find The One.
When Stacey imagined „The One,“ it never occurred to her that her summertime Faire fling, Dex MacLean, might fit the bill. Den Abschluss am 29. September machen diese beiden Neuerscheinungen:

„Skyhunter“ von Marie Lu, die bereist einige gute Jugendserien veröffentlich hat und mit diesem Buch eine weitere Reihe beginnt.

Auch Naomi Novik konnte mit ihren Romanen bereits so einige Erfolge erzielen und beginnt mit „A Deadly Education“ ebenfalls eine neue Serie.

There are no teachers, no holidays, and no friendships, save strategic ones.
